NiTi rib plates resolve a case of lung hernia
Big news from France!
This is a first for France and, I believe, for Europe too.
Today 5 nitinol H-shaped clips have been implanted on a patient undergoing lung hernia surgery, by Dr Grand of the Hôpital d'Instruction des Armées Percy in Clamart, Parisian region.
The hernia had already been operated and the patient’s ribs had been resealed with a non-absorbable thread, as it’s usually done.
Nonetheless, the thread broke and the hernia popped out again.
During the second surgery, before resealing the ribs, the surgeon had to lift up the lung which reported many adhesions, caused by past surgery.
The latter has been the subject of a resection and a NEOVEIL sheet has been applied at the point of the resected wall.
